Shanghai Bus App Prep work
I haven't mentioned the Shanghai bus App here yet so its time to document the project. I started this project about a year ago in an effort to give something back to Shanghai for all that it has given me. I also wanted more published code of mine out there in the wild. So I got a directory of all the Buses in Shanghai and I made an iPhone App out of it.
Since that glorious day, yes it only took me a day to get the basic app out, the App has gone the way of the dodo bird. I never collected the money I made with the App and I didn't renew my subscription with Apple Developers. So it was a 99 dollar loss for me and now its not on the App store.
This week I plan on changing that. I'm going to spend another 99 dollars and get the Shanghai Bus app back into the App Store. Not only will it get back in the App store, it'll be better than it was last year and fully updated with the changes in the bus lines. The last thing i will do is fight for my money, but I doubt anyone cares about that.
So today I did a lot of prep work for the project and I will continue doing prep work until Wednesday night. I don't want to write code yet. Instead I want to learn more about Objective-C so that when I write the code I will write good code. This App will be "Gooder" than the last. I've started reading a technical book, "Learn Objective-C on the Mac" which I will link later in the books section
Heres a thought I posted on Google Wave about the book: "A great feeling while reading a technical book is when you realize you are learning nothing new, you already know this! Then the thought They wrote a book about something I already know! Awesome I could write a book!"
